Lions Club Border holds Ist SRNL Memorial Declamation Competition in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 28, 2023: The first Shadi Ram Nand Lal Memorial (SRNL) Declamation Competition was organized by Lions Club (Border), Ferozepur on Sunday. Divulging with the details, Lion Ashish Sharma, President said, as many as, around 60 students from different schools/colleges participated in this Declamation Competition.
The declamation contests provide an opportunity to develop public speaking skills, boost confidence, build critical thinking skills, enhance language skills, and develop cultural awareness. Besides, it can be a valuable experience that helps students develop a wide range of skills and abilities.
The event was judged by Prof Chaman Arora along with Harish Kumar, Social Activist. Kulbhushan Garg, Chairman, SVM, was also present. Lion Parteek Arora, PRO, Lion Deepak Guptal Secretary, Lion Ashish Aggarwal, Project Incharge, Lion Mohit Garg, Treasurer and Lion Gopal Gupta, Project Co-incharge, Lion Abhay Dhawan, Lion Anku Chopra, Lion Saurav Puri, Lion Chetanpal Singh Jossan, Lion Dr.Rohit Garg, Lion Love Chhabra, Lion Deepak Mangal, Lion Himanshu Dhawan, were also present.
The topics were – Role of social media in Indian Politics, Demonetization and its prolonged impact, Women Empowerment, Politics and Religion go together or be independent Pros and Cons of Online Learning, Making Aadhar Card Mandatory – benefits and drawbacks, Was life better when technology was simple and Action speak louder than words.
All the participants expressed their views on the selected topics, within the given five minute’s time.
Before the announcement of results, Prof C.L.Arora congratulated all the participants and shared his experience and tips while participating in the next such competition. He said instead of vomiting the words, they should try to understand the contents of the topic, to cover up in the event of a necessary pause on forgetting the memorized contents. Similarly, apart from the rich contents of the subject, presentation through gestures and eye-to-eye contact is equally important to take along with the audience and judges.
In Group A, Tarindeerpal, Charul and Leen Garg, in Group B, Sehijveer Kaur, Jashandeep Kaur and Aditya bagged the first, send and third positions with cash prize of Rs.3,00, Rs.2100 and Rs.11 with trophy respectively. In Group C, only one participant was declared as Second with a cash prize of Rs.2100 and Trophy. However, in Language, all the three were given Rs.1100 and trophies – Aishveer Kaur in English, Mehak Jain, in Hindi and Prabal Preet in Punjabi.
