Health Deptt to start campaign to identify patients with chronic diseases – Dr. Rajinder Pal
Ferozepur , 30 May 2023: The Punjab government health department will start a special campaign to identify the patients with chronic diseases like Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STI), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, Tuberculosis (TB) and Hepatitis, said Dr. Rajinder Pal, Civil Surgeon during the district level meeting held in this regard.
Civil Surgeon said that according to the official statistics, India is the second country in the world with HIV infection among the prisoners in the jails of Punjab. Under the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) campaign, a special screening and treatment campaign will be conducted for the prisoners in jails regarding these diseases.
He further informed that counselling, screening and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases will be conducted in this campaign. Similarly, counselling and screening for HIV and sputum collection for TB patients will be done. Apart from this, sample collection and testing for hepatitis will also be done besides antenatal and general check-up which is an important way to check your own and your baby’s health and wellbeing throughout your pregnancy.
In the meeting, Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Rajinder Manchanda , District Immunization - cum - District Health and Family Welfare Officer Meenakshi Abrol , SMO. Dr. Naveen Sethi , District Epidemiologist Dr. Shaminderpal Kaur , Dr. Yuvraj Narang , Dr. AKash Gupta , Dr. Khushpreet Singh, DPM Harish Kataria , BCC Co-ordinator Rajnik Kaur, Counselor Monika etc. were present.
