Free prosthetic limbs and health checkup camps to benefit needy patients during CWT’s mega health camp

Chandigarh, September 21, 2023: Punjab Governor and Chandigarh UT Administrator, Banwarilal Purohit, will inaugurate the free Mega Multispecialty Health Camp, which is being organised by Chandigarh Welfare Trust (CWT) on September 24, at Grain market in Sector 39, Chandigarh.
The Mega Health Camp to be held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm will offer health checkup camps and prosthetic limbs free of cost which will help the needy patients of Chandigarh city and its peripheral areas. It is a part of ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ which commenced from September 17 on the 73rd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As many as 26 medical associations, hospitals, and institutions have joined hands with CWT for the free mega health camp where more than 500 doctors and 1200 paramedical staff along with CWT volunteers will offer free health services to the people.
So far, over 16,000 people have registered to avail the benefits of medical services during the camp. Different diagnostic camps of 23 specialties will be held during the Multispecialty Mega Health Camp, and free Homeopathic, allopathic, and ayurvedic medicine will also be provided to the people during the ‘Medicine Langar’.
Ten cancer screening buses will be deployed at the camp to apprise the citizens of cancer and its symptoms. Mammography tests will also be available for women. Besides this, general medical check-up, child healthcare, dental check-up, mental health counselling, orthopaedics, gynaecology, Hepatitis B vaccination, and pulse polio immunization campaign will be held during the camp.
Senior citizens can get themselves examined of diabetic retinography, cataract detection, and bone density test. During the camp, people can also get the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Cards created to avail the services at empanelled hospitals (public or private) anywhere in the country.
Hearing and vision diagnosis facilities including 1 eye screening bus will also be available during the camp. In addition, free hearing aid and free spectacles will also be distributed to the needy patients. Prosthetic arms and legs will also be distributed and fitted to the patients in need.
Chandigarh Welfare Trust Founder Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “The registrations for Mega Health Camp have received a massive response from the people. As of now, 16,000 people have registered to avail the benefit of the medical health camp already, which includes 300 registrations for prosthetic limbs and 200 registrations for cancer screening.”
Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “We have urged the people from Chandigarh and its peripheral areas to register to avail the benefits from the health camp and we expect that a large number of needy patients will be benefited. The patients can register up to September 23 to avail the health services under the supervision of top medical professionals and doctors of Chandigarh city.”
CWT Founder also stated that the Mega Health Camp is in line with Modi government’s Ayushman Bharat scheme that provides affordable healthcare services to all citizens and ensures a healthy lifestyle.

The next activity of Sewa Pakhwada in line is a cleanliness drive scheduled on October 2, followed by Kanyavrat and Fit India events on October 4. Prior to the Mega Health Camp on September 24, a multifaith prayer for PM Modi, interfaith dialogue, and a cultural extravaganza was organised on September 17.
