Intensive clean-up of trains on ‘Clean Train Day’ in Ferozepur Rail Division
Ferozepur, September 21, 2023: Swachhta Fortnight was celebrated in Ferozepur Rail Division from 16 September to 2 October, 2023 with different activities every day and Clean Train Day was celebrated on 20th and 21st September during this fortnight.
As part of this cleaning campaign, special attention was paid to the cleanliness of all passenger trains starting from Ferozepur Division. Along with the trains and the toilets inside it, the pantry car was also thoroughly cleaned. The toilets of the trains were mechanized and their external surfaces were also cleaned. Garbage and plastic collected from trains were disposed of properly. Leakage of water taps in the coaches of the train was checked and those that were faulty were repaired promptly. Fitting of electric devices in trains and their thorough cleaning was ensured. The mechanical department carries out the washing and repairing of train coaches in the washing pit lines.
Extensive cleaning of trains was done in the washing pit lines of railway stations such as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ferozepur Cantt etc. in Ferozepur Division. An automatic coach washing plant is installed in the washing pit line of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station, where the coaches of trains are washed quickly in less water and manpower is also saved. The cleaning system of the trains was monitored by the officers and supervisors and a dialogue was also held with the cleaning staff for better results in cleaning.
During this time, in order to keep the train and railway premises clean, posters related to "What to do and what not to do" were placed inside the trains and through the public address system, the passengers were asked to keep the coaches and stations clean and the garbage in the dustbin, said the railway spokesperson.
