NawanShahar/ Jalandhar, September 27, 2023: The Punjab Government has failed miserably to give the Shaheed Bhagat Singh state youth Awards to 46 deserving youth of Punjab who excelled in their respective fields.
After paying rich tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh on the eve of his Birth Anniversary at Khatkar Kalan today, Mohit Mohindra President of Punjab Youth Congress said that these awards were announced by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann last year but due to negligence of the Punjab Govt this whole issue is pending in the courts.
Aam Aadmi party which was born out of protests and talks much of the freedom fighters and their struggle played a joke with these awards also. After announcing 46 awards to the deserving youth of Punjab two from each district of Punjab only 29 were selected by the department of youth affairs and out them also only six were given these awards.
No reason of rejection was given to the others who were even given police verifications by the respective districts. According to the announcement made by the Chief Minister 50,000/- cash award was to be given to 46 deserving youth but due to unknown reasons only six were given out of whole state. While huge amount was spent on the advertisement to publicize this announcement of the Govt.
Mohit further said that this lackluster attitude of the present Govt. shows clearly that how much respect they give to our freedom fighters. Just having pictures in every office and showing to the public on every public platform won’t serve purpose anymore. They actually betrayed the true spirit of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
Mohit alongwith hundreds of youth congress workers today paid rich tributes at Khatkar Kalan on the eve of Birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
