Along with a delegation, he said, he had met with then Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to include self-funded PACS in the loan waiver scheme. CM Channi had announced the waiver but it could not be implemented because of the paucity of time, as the model code of conduct was imposed.
MLA Chaudhary further said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had stated the government had no shortage of funds, so it should provide the relief at the earliest to the poor farmers and laborers.
It is pertinent to mention here that MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary had also raised an unstarred question in Vidhan Sabha on this issue in March this year.
CM Bhagwant Mann had then said that the decision to waive off the loans of members of such agriculture societies will be taken by the state government shortly. MLA Chaudhary lamented that despite giving the assurance, the government had not given the benefit to the left-out farmers and laborers.
