Haryana Budget 2024-25 Highlights: Sikh Museum, hike in insurance coverage for media, free travels among others announced by Khattar Govt

Chandigarh, February 23, 2024: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday presented the State Budget with a total outlay of Rs 1,89,876.61 for the year 2024-25 at the Assembly in Chandigarh.
Here are the highlights:
1.A memorial will be set up at Pipli, Kurukshetra to convey the life and teachings of Guru Ravidas to new generations. 5 acres of land has been identified for the Guru Ravidas Memorial at Pipli and the design of the memorial is being prepared by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) in consultation with experts and stakeholders.
2. A Sikh Museum will be built in Pipli to tell the new generations about the glorious history, struggle and contribution of Sikhism to the country and mankind.
3. Haryana Teerth Yatra Scheme was launched in December, 2023, to provide an opportunity to senior citizens to go on pilgrimage to important sites like Ayodhya, Patna Sahib, Ajmer Sharif, Varanasi, Amritsar, Ujjain, Katra and Nanded.
4.Under this scheme, a senior citizen of a family with annual family income up to Rs 1.80 lakh will be eligible for free travel to these pilgrimage sites. The registration process for this has started.
5.The first group of pilgrims to Ayodhya is expected to leave in the first week of March. Groups of pilgrims will then avail of the scheme to visit one pilgrimage site every week.
6.Last year, the pension of media workers has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per month. Presently 193 media persons are availing the benefit of monthly pension.
7.The government has increased the insurance coverage of media personnel from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, the entire premium of which is paid by the government. Media personnel are allowed to travel 4000 km in a year in state transport. Free travel facility is also being provided..Financial assistance up to Rs 2.50 lakh is provided to media personnel and their family members in case of medical emergency or unfortunate death of media personnel.
