New Delhi [India], February 24 (ANI): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress have officially announced their tie-up for the ensuing poll battle on Saturday.
A joint conference has been addressed by leaders of both parties at New Delhi. It has been decided that in Delhi, AAP would contest on four whereas Congress would contest on three seats. In Haryana, Congress would contest on nine and AAP would contest on one seat. In Chandigarh's only seat, Congress would field their candidate. In both two seats of Goa, Congress would fight the election. In Punjab, both parties would contest polls individually on all 13 seats. In Gujarat's 26 seats, Congress would contest 24 whereas AAP would contest on two seats.
Congress general secretary and MP Mukul Wasnik says, "Haryana has 10 Lok Sabha seats. Congress will contest on 9. AAP will have its candidates on 1 seat - on Kurukshetra." He also says, "After a long discussion on Chandigarh, at the end, it was decided that Congress candidate will contest from there."
AAP MP Sandeep Pathak said, "Today, the situation that the country is going through - the manner in which the BJP Government is finishing all institutions one by one, the elections are being 'stolen' and Opposition leaders are being put in jail to win elections, the manner in which injustice is being done with farmers, the manner in which people of the country are suffering through unemployment and inflation...the country needs an honest and strong alternate. Keeping that in mind, casting aside our own political interests and keeping in mind the interest of the nation, we came together in this alliance. It is the country which is important, party is always secondary. This election will not be fought in the manner that Congress will contest from here and AAP will contest from there, INDIA will contest this election..."
