No eligible child should be deprived of polio drops under any circumstances: Minister Om Prakash Yadav

Chandigarh, March 3, 2024 - Haryana Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Om Prakash Yadav said to keep the future generation polio-free, administering polio drops to children aged 0 to 5 years under the Nationwide Pulse Polio Immunisation Campaign is the only option. Therefore, no eligible child should be deprived of these polio drops under any circumstances.
Om Prakash Yadav said this today after administering polio drops to children at the Civil Hospital, Narnaul, marking the launch of the district-level Pulse Polio vaccination drive.
Yadav said that although India has been polio-free since 2014, cases of polio are still emerging in neighboring countries.
Therefore, the threat of polio persists in India. He emphasized the necessity of administering polio vaccine to all children aged 0 to 5 years under this program to keep the country polio-free.
Polio, a dreadful disease, not only makes the individual feel helpless but also hinders normal life activities.
On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ramesh Chander Arya, explained that the primary objective of repeatedly administering the vaccine to children aged 0 to 5 years under the campaign is to keep the future generation polio-free.
He stressed that it is everyone's responsibility to ensure that not only eligible children in their vicinity but also other eligible children are given the vaccine at nearby polio booths.
