Haryana CEO directs DCs to form social media team to address code of conduct violations

Chandigarh, April 16, 2024 - Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer,Anurag Agarwal, has directed all Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers to form social media teams to address complaints of violations of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in their respective districts.
Anurag Agarwal was holding a review meeting with all Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers through video conferencing today regarding the management of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections here today.
The Chief Electoral Officer directed Deputy Commissioners to conduct vulnerability mapping of all Assembly constituencies in the state to ensure the smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections without any problems.
He said that training should be provided to all presiding officers and alternate presiding officers. Along with this, the first round of randomization of EVM machines should be done and the second round of randomization should also be done before May 13.
Agarwal said that no Form-6 should be pending for the registration of new voters by April 26. He stated that arrangements should be made for elderly voters over the age of 85 and differently-abled voters to cast their votes from home to ensure no inconvenience to them.
The Chief Electoral Officer directed all District Election Officers to personally inspect polling stations and ensure certification of inspection to the Election Department.
He said that the old buildings and buildings of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Public Works (Buildings and Roads), and Urban Local Bodies Department where polling booths have been set up during the Lok Sabha election period, should not be demolished.
He suggested forming booth-level awareness groups to encourage people to vote more. This time, the Election Commission has launched a queue management app in urban areas to increase voting, so that voters can get information about the queue on the day of voting and don't have to wait long to cast their votes.
He said that all Booth Level Officers should be trained about this app.Agarwal said that sveep activities should continue regularly. Videos of the Election Commission should be played on electronic advertising boards of urban local bodies.
He said that the oldest voter at the booth level and the youth voting for the first time should be honored. He said that all District Election Officers should prepare communication plans for their respective districts.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Smt. Hema Sharma, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Apurv, besides other senior officers, were also present on the occasion, besides other officials of the department, were also present in the meeting.
