BSF recovers body of farmer washed away in river near Indo-Pakistan border
Ferozepur, April 17, 2024: After two weeks, the BSF took possession of the body and drifted into Pakistani territory due to a strong current, after a flag meeting and handed it over to the family members. The deceased was identified as Amrik Singh, a resident of Dona Telu Mal, a border village in Ferozepur.
On April 2, 2024, a farmer Amrik Singh, son of Fauja Singh, resident of village DT Mal, drowned in the river while crossing the river in the area of border post DT Mal, ahead of the fencing, with the help of automatic boats of the Border Security Force. Even after extensive searching, the drowned farmer was not found.
Nearly two weeks later, the local people spotted a dead body floating in the river and alerted the 155th Bn of Security Force, who used the speed boat to try and recover the body but due to strong currents, the body drifted into Pakistani territory. The 155th Battalion then contacted the Pakistan Rangers, and after a flag meeting, took possession of the deceased’s body, confirmed a BSF official. The body was later handed over to the farmer’s family members.
