Police-Farmers meet held in Ferozepur, farmer outfits to hold peaceful protest against BJP candidates
Ferozepur, April 23, 2024: To put pressure on the Centre government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to immediately resolve the long pending issues in different police stations in the district, a police farmer meeting was held today chaired by SSP Saumya Mishra. The farmers were represented by various organizations - Krantikari Kisan Union Punjab, BKU Dakonda BKU Rajewal, BKU Lakhowal, BKU Kadi, BKU Sidhupur, Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee BKU Punjab, BKU Kisan Sangharsh Committee Kot Budha, BKU Ugraha, BKU Mansa and BKU Khosa and others.
The farmers had also been protesting at the Shambu border near Ambala and had launched a Rail Roko programme putting a lot of inconvenience to the public and a huge loss to the railways. So far as the demands of the farmers are concerned, they are demanding the release of three activists who were arrested during the ongoing protest and have refused to vacate the railway track till they are released.
The farmer's leader said the police administration assured to quickly resolve the long pending issues in different police stations in the entire district.
However, the administration appealed to the farmers to remain peaceful while opposing the BJP candidates.
Avtar Singh Mehma said, said that the protest against BJP leaders during election campaigning in villages and towns will be held by asking questions and not giving short answers to the questions. It has been decided that the organizations will do this at any cost and during this period the farmer organizations will not adopt any kind of provocative speech or method of violent protest, he added.
