5th Marshal of Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament-2024 from April 25

Chandigarh, April 24, 2024: The 5th edition of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey tournament-2024 is scheduled to be held from 25-30 April 2024 at 3 Base Repair Depot (BRD), Chandigarh.
Air Force Sports Control Board (AFSCB) has been organizing the tournament since 2018. Union Bank of India is the associate sponsor of the tournament this year.This was informed by Air Vice Marshal Sartaj Bedi, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Org & Ceremonial), while addressing the media persons on the occasion of curtain raiser ceremony of the tournament at 3BRD, Air Force Station, Chandigarh today.
He further informed that Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh’s passion for the game of Hockey was unparallel. He was an inspiration for air warriors not only to lead from front in wars but also in the field of sports. Indian Air Force has been consistently producing athletes, who have represented India at various international competitions and brought laurels to the nation and for Indian Air Force (IAF).
Air Vice Marshal Sartaj Bedi also unveiled the trophy of the 5th edition of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey tournament-2024.
On the occasion, Group Captain Amit Dhami, Organising Secretary in his presentation briefed about the upcoming Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey tournament-2024. He said that a total of 12 Teams are participating including two teams from overseas- Bangladesh & Sri Lanka Air Force, making it an International affair. The teams of Indian Air Force, Chandigarh XI, State Bank of India, Punjab & Sind Bank, Central Industrial Security Force, Punjab Police, Army XI, Indian Navy, Indian Railways and Rail Coach Factory will participate in the tournament.
The matches will be played at Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Stadium, 3 BRD, Air Force Station, Chandigarh. The matches will be held among the teams divided in 04 Pools.
The prize money for the tournament is as follows:-
Winner - Rs 3,00,000/-
Runners Up - Rs 2,00,000/-
Man of the Match - Rs 10,000/- (Each match)
Group Captain Arun Mittu, Chairman Air Force Sports Control Board (AFSCB); Group Captain Anand J Karve, Station Commander 3 BRD; Group Captain YS Panghal, Secretary AFSCB; Group Captain Manpreet Singh, Chief Administration Officer 3 BRD were also present in the curtain raiser ceremony.
Air Marshal RK Anand, Air Officer Incharge (Administration) will be the Chief Guest of the Opening ceremony on 25 April, 2024, while Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff will preside over the Closing ceremony on 30 April, 2024.
