"Loot zindagi ke saath bhi, zindagi ke baad bhi": PM Modi targets Congress in election rallies; rakes up inheritance tax, religion-based quota
Bhopal, April 25, 2024 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the Congress party as he held three public rallies on Wednesday across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and wrapped up the day with a mega show in Bhopal.
Hitting out at the grand old party, PM Modi accused the Congress of "looting" while quoting Life Insurance of India's slogan of 'Congress ki loot, zindagi ke sath bhi aur zindagi ke baad bhi'.
"Today another hidden agenda of Congress has come out. Today Congress has said that it will levy inheritance tax. The property that you have saved by working hard and facing hardships, Congress will loot it from you after they form the government. For Congress, it is 'Congress ki loot, zindagi ke sath bhi aur zindagi ke baad bhi'. Congress has become so disconnected from the social values of India and the sentiments of the Indian society that they have no idea of family values," the Prime Minister said at a public rally in Chhattisgarh's Surguja.
PM Modi also hit out at the remarks made by Congress' Sam Pitroda about an 'inheritance tax' like law saying that the Congress does not want the countrymen to pass on their property to their children. "The advisor to the royal family's prince has said that more taxes should be imposed on the middle class. Now these people have gone one step further than this, Congress says that it will impose an Inheritance Tax, and it will also impose tax on the inheritance received from parents. The property you have accumulated through your hard work will not be given to your children," the Prime Minister said.
Addressing the public rally in Chhattisgarh's Surguja, PM Modi said the Prime Minister said that the opposition party has always planned to implement reservation on the basis of religion.
"When the Congress manifesto came out, I said on the same day that the Congress manifesto had the stamp of the Muslim League on it. When the Constitution was being made, it was decided under the leadership of Babasaheb Ambedkar that there would be no reservation on the basis of religion in India. But for vote bank, Congress did not care about the words of these great men, did not care about the sanctity of the Constitution nor did it care about the words of Babasaheb Ambedkar," the Prime Minister said.
"Years ago, Congress had tried to give reservation on the basis of religion in Andhra Pradesh. Then Congress planned to implement it all over the country. Congress said that reservation should be given to some people based on religion by stealing some part of the SC/ST and OBC quota," he added.
He further said that "misgovernance by the Congress resulted in the destruction of the country but the BJP is taking strict action against terrorism and Naxalism".
He also took a jibe at Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for shedding tears over the images 2008 Batla House encounter as stated by Salman Khurshid. "Congress is supporting the people who spread violence and calls them bravehearts. The biggest leader of this Congress sheds tears when terrorists are killed. Due to such actions, Congress has lost the trust of the country," he said.
He alleged that the Congress party made efforts to please America after the Urban Naxals took control of the grand old party over its supposed poll promise to redistribute wealth possessed by citizens of the country.
"There was a storm in their (Congress) party when I said urban Naxals have taken control over the Congress party. They felt that efforts should be made to make America happy. Modi has made such a big allegation, so they are pretending to turn towards them and doing a drama to create balance. But they want to steal your property," he said.
The Prime Minister reiterated his earlier claims against the Congress party and accused it of "snatching away the rights of OBCs" while addressing a public rally in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar.
"Today a reality of the Congress has been exposed. Our Constitution clearly prohibits giving reservation on the basis of religion. Babasaheb Ambedkar himself was against reservation on the basis of religion. But the vote bank hungry Congress never cared about it. Congress has taken a resolution to provide reservation on the basis of religion. It is adopting various tactics to fulfil this resolution," PM Modi said earlier.
"In 2004, Congress gave reservation on the basis of religion in Andhra Pradesh. In Karnataka, Congress has given reservation on the basis of religion. All Muslim castes have been put in the OBC quota. By doing this, a major right that OBCs used to get was snatched away and given away on the basis of religion. Congress wants to implement this formula in the entire country. Congress, which has snatched away the rights of OBCs, is the biggest enemy of the OBC. Congress has murdered social justice, hurt the spirit of the Constitution and has insulted Babasaheb," the Prime Minister said.
He alleged that the Congress party "hates" the Constitution and "India's identity". The Prime Minister also alleged that the grand old party has vowed to levy inheritance tax if voted to power.
"The Congress party hates the Constitution of the country. They hate the identity of India. That is why they are working on every project that weakens the country and the credibility of the country. These people come up with new tactics to make society fight among themselves," he said.
PM Modi stepped up his attack against the grand old party reiterating his earlier remarks and accused that the latter will "snatch" people's property and distribute it among their "vote bank".
"Congress wants to snatch your property. They will do an x-Ray as their leader is saying and will look at what is there in your locker and at home. Be it jewellery or 'mangalsutra' of women, Congress will search for everything and then they will snatch it and redistribute it. If you have two homes, one in the city and the other in the village, Congress will take one. If you have two cars, they will take one, Congress has announced this. After snatching all these things from you, they want to give it to their 'vote bank'," he said.
PM Modi accused the Congress of "killing the basic values of social justice" in the name of secularism, while addressing a public rally in Madhya Pradesh's Betul today and said that its government in Karnataka had tried to snatch the reservation for backward classes by categorising the entire Muslim community as OBCs and its action is a warning signal for the OBC community of the entire country.
"When the Congress government was formed at the Centre, they first introduced religion-based reservation in Andhra Pradesh. But then Congress was not completely successful in its plans. Congress still wants to play that game. To snatch away the share of reservation that OBCs get in Karnataka from the OBC quota, Congress made all the Muslims of the state OBC. This action of Congress is a warning signal for the OBC community of the entire country," he said.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi held a massive roadshow in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday in the run-up to the parliamentary elections.
PM Modi was pictured waving and greeting the enthusiastic crowd gathered on either sides of the road. Visuals showed people in huge numbers cheering the Prime Minister's convoy from behind the police barricades.
Many people also showered flower petals as PM Modi's convoy passed. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Kumar Yadav.
