Chandigarh, May 8, 2024: The chief of Damdami Taksal and Sant Samaj, Giani Harnam Singh Khalsa at a public gathering urged Sikhs to increase their numbers. He said that each Sikh family should give birth to five children.
“Give birth to five children each. If you can't take care of them, give them to me. I will keep them in Taksal, teach them, and make them Gurmat scholars who will be recognized in the country as well as abroad," he said.
"I'm making a painful request that do not be limited to one child. Right now, we (Sikhs) are 52 % population in the state while the rest are migrants. In the coming time, we will be in the minority. Do not be scared. Believe in God. These days, children who are drug addicts are beating their parents. If you have four, at least one will take care of you, another will perform Sewa in Gurughar or another place, one will become a martyr. Those Shaheed sons will bring pride to you," he said.
