DC asks all public and private houses to write signboards in Punjabi language
Ferozepur, 17 May 2024: All milestones, name plaques, and boards at all government, semi-government, educational institutions, boards corporations, non-government organisations, public and private shops, and commercial establishments, should be written in Punjabi language (Gurmukhi script), said Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner.
DC said that we must write the names of our shops and business establishments in Punjabi language (Gurmukhi script) to give due respect to the mother tongue as Punjabis. He said that this is an important and responsible task that should be carried out by various departments with cooperation.
He told the present group heads and representatives that the names of these different types of shops and commercial establishments should be prepared in Punjabi language as soon as possible and the report should be sent to the district administration. All the officers and representatives present in the meeting assured to carry out this work as soon as possible.
Assistant Commissioner Suraj said that according to the Punjab State Shops and Commercial Establishments (First Amendment) Rule-2023 of the Labour Department Act, persons/, institutions who violate these instructions will be fined Rs.1,000 for the first violation and Rs.2,000 for the second violation will be fined.
District Language Officer Ferozepur Dr Jagdeep Singh Sandhu said that the District Language Office Ferozepur has been making continuous efforts to carry out this work for about 2 years with the support of the concerned and is getting positive support from all and at most of the places names have been written in Punjab language and the work is in progress.
On this occasion, apart from representatives of the Labour Department, Municipal Councils, Market Committees and District Industry Center, representatives of various IELTS centres of the district were also present.
