Barjinder Singh Hamdard moves High Court, challenges Jang-e-Azadi FIR by Vigilance

Chandigarh, May 27, 2024: Ajit Managing Editor Dr. Barjinder Singh Hamdard has moved Punjab and High Court against Punjab Vigilance Bureau action against him Jang-e-Azadi Memorial fund embezzlement case. In this petition, he has pleaded for quashing of FIR against him by Punjab Vigilance.
He has asked the High Court to order a probe by the third-party agency in the matter for transparency and fairness. The hearing of this matter will be held in the High Court on May 31.
Notably, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has filed an FIR against Barjinder Singh Hamdard, along with 26 officers, contractor officials and engineers on charges of corruption and violating the rules and saving the government more than 27 crore rupees. In this regard, 16 People have been arrested. Barjinder Singh Hamdard has now been asked to appear before the vigilance on May 31.
On the other hand, Ajit's management says that this case is completely false and Ajit's independent voice has been denied. It has been filed for suppression because this institution responded to the government's call in the affirmative. Declaring it an attack, he also announced to take action against it. In this case, the Prime Minister praised Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar for raising this issue.
After the complaint, the Election Commission of India had also sought a report on the matter from the Punjab government. It is also worth mentioning that the senior and junior leaders of all the opposition parties, except the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, have expressed concern over the matter. Mann has taken a stance of protest by strongly criticizing the government.
