Farmers to submit memorandum of demands to all MPs except 240 BJP MPs on July 8
Kisan Morcha started on Feb 13 to continue till MSP guarantee law is enacted

Ferozepur, June 21, 2024: In a joint meeting of Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, held at Chandigarh, have decided to hand over memorandums to MPs from various political parties on July 9, except 240 MPs of BJP, demanding to table a private member’s bill in Parliament, on a law guaranteeing minimum support price (MSP on crops according to the C2+50% formula as per the Swaminathan Commission recommendations.
Present among others in the meeting were - Jagjit Singh Dallewal, Sarwan Singh Pandher, Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh, Amarjit Mohri, Sukhjit Singh Hardojhande, Tejveer Singh, Gurinder Singh Bhangu, Guramneet Singh Mangat, Balwant Singh Behramke, and Harmandeep Singh Raisar.
Describing the increase in the minimum support price by the government as insufficient, the farmers' leaders said that unless a law is made to guarantee the purchase of crops at the minimum support price, the farmers will not get any benefit. He said that the price of paddy has been increased by Rs.117 (5.35%) and the price of millet by Rs.125 (5%), while the inflation rate in rural areas in May 2024 is 5.28%. He said that the movement started from February 13 will continue till the MSP guarantee law is enacted.
The farmer leaders said that the Haryana police is treating farmer leader Navdeep Singh Jalbeda in a manner that is not acceptable in any democratic country. For the release of Navdeep Jalbeda, the SP office in Ambala, Haryana will be surrounded on July 17, in which farmers will arrive from every corner of Punjab-Haryana.
Farmer leaders further said that on July 8, except for the 240 MPs of the BJP, a memorandum will be handed over to the MPs of all the parties in the country regarding the demands of the Kisan movement so that all the demands of the farmers, including the Minimum Support Price Guarantee Act, will be echoed, with an appeal to table a private member’s bill in Parliament
Farmer leaders said that the whole country knows that the National Highway has been closed not by the farmers but by the BJP government and it is the responsibility of the central government to open the road and allow the farmers to peacefully protest in the capital of their country.
