Farmers protest entered 150th day
Despite court orders Shambhu border not opened, farmers to continue stir till demands are met
Ferozepur, July 13, 2024: Despite July 10 orders by the High Court, for opening the National Highway, the Haryana Government is filing an appeal against these orders. However, the Haryana government was waiting for the outcome of the farmer leaders meeting scheduled on July 16 before taking a call on the issue of the Shambhu border.

The farmers are protesting at the Shambhu border under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee and Sayunkt Kisan Morcha (SKM) (Non-Political), over the main demand of guarantee for MSP since February 13. The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the Haryana government to open the border within a week. The Supreme Court too had asked the state how it could block a highway and directed it to remove the barricading set up at Shambhu. Due to farmers’ protests, the Shambhu border between Punjab and Haryana has been barricaded and closed for public transport for over five months.
In his video message, Tajveer Singh, a farmer leader from the Shambhu border said, that the farmer's protest has entered its 150th day today and today it has been noticed that the Haryana government has gone for an appeal against the High Court orders of July 10 for the opening of National Highway.
He said the governments are not farmer-friendly as is evident from the Haryana government for appealing to the Supreme Court against the High Court orders. The farmers want to move to Delhi to register their protest but the National Highway has been blocked. These governments don’t want farmers’ voices should reach the Central government.
He appealed to all to continue to support the farmers for their demand for a guarantee for MSP besides various other demands.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, coordinator of KMM, said that they would continue their stir till their demands are met.
