Haryana Cabinet: Farmers' dues worth about Rs 133.55 crores waived off

Chandigarh, August 5, 2024 - Taking a big historic decision in the interest of farmers, the Haryana government has abolished the Abiana system that was being followed in the state since the British era.
Along with this , the previous dues of Abiana amounting to about Rs 133.55 crore have also been waived off, which will be a great benefit to the farmers across the state. The proposal in this regard was approved in the Haryana Cabinet meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini.
According to the decision of the cabinet , from April 1, 2024 , Aabiyaana will no longer be taken from the farmers in the state. This will provide relief of Rs 54 crore per year to the farmers. Farmers of 4,299 villages of Haryana will benefit from this .
It was also decided in the meeting that the notices sent to farmers for depositing Abiana after April 1, 2024, will also be withdrawn. Apart from this , if any farmer has deposited Abiana after April 1, 2024 , then that amount will also be returned to the farmer.
