Chandigarh, August 5, 2024: The Leader of the Opposition (LoP), Partap Singh Bajwa, on Monday, ridiculed the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly making deceitful claims about his government's performance in Punjab while addressing the election rallies in the election-bound state of Haryana.
Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that while addressing the election rally in Pihowa town of Haryana, Punjab CM on Sunday made a false claim that several corrupt leaders have been put behind bars after the Aam Aadmi Party assumed power in 2022 Punjab. He also delivered a misleading statement about employing youths in Punjab.
"Can CM Mann answer how many AAP leaders, legislatures and cabinet ministers have been put in jail, whose names cropped up in alleged corruption and extortion-related cases? The AAP government's zero tolerance against corruption has now turned out to be an idiotic slogan", Bajwa added.
Bajwa said that after getting hold of power, CM Mann himself uncovered an alleged corruption case against former Health Minister Vijay Singla. Nobody knows so far what happened to that case. However, he still plays an active part in the AAP and he has not been jailed.
"Can Bhagwant Mann explain why he failed to put Cabinet Minister Fauja Singh Sarari to jail after the audio went viral in which he was allegedly conspiring about extortion? Has the AAP MLA Saravjit Kaur Manuke been jailed, who attempted to grab an NRI property? The list of AAP's sordid affairs is too long to mention here", Bajwa added.
The opposition leader said that the unemployment rate in Punjab has been at an all-time high. The youngsters have been planning to move to other countries in search of better lives and the Punjab CM was boasting about employing 43000 youths. He also delivered an exaggerated speech about the health system in Punjab.
