KVK hosts Farmer Training Camp on 'Sustainable Agriculture', 60 farmers participate

Ferozepur, August 9, 2024: In collaboration with the Punjab Energy Development Agency, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ferozepur, under the leadership of Dr. G.P.S. Sodhi, Additional Director of Extension Education, organized a one-day training camp for progressive farmers and farm women. The event saw the participation of around 60 farmers and farm women.
The camp began with an inaugural ceremony and a warm welcome to guests from various agencies. Dr. Munish Kumar, Assistant Professor (Animal Science), guided farmers on sustainable animal husbandry practices and emphasized the importance of using energy-efficient devices to conserve energy at both household and agricultural levels. Program Coordinator Karan Kandhari provided information on subsidies available for solar equipment for domestic and agricultural use.
Energy expert Dr. H.K. Singh from B.E.E. shared detailed insights on energy efficiency, B.E.E. star-rated solar equipment, and technical farming. He also discussed various government schemes aimed at promoting efficient energy use in agriculture and domestic sectors.
Dr. Anand Gautam, Assistant Professor (FMPE), encouraged farmers to use solar-powered machinery and efficient water management techniques, such as direct seeding of rice and proper handling of crop residues. Dr. Divya Jain, Assistant Professor (Home Science), moderated the session and discussed issues related to the increasing consumption of energy and water in agriculture. Dr. B.S. Sekhon, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), offered valuable tips on successful vegetable cultivation.
The event concluded with an open discussion and Q&A session, followed by a vote of thanks from the KVK team to all the participants and guests.
