PAU continues to lead Agricultural Universities in NIRF 2024

Ludhiana, August 12, 2023:Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, has once again demonstrated its academic excellence by securing the top spot among all the 75 agricultural universities in India in the NIRF 2024 rankings, released by the Ministry of Education in an event held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, today.
This marks the second consecutive year PAU has claimed this honor. In the broader category of all agricultural institutions, encompassing agriculture and allied sectors, PAU proudly ranks third, with the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, and the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, taking the first and second spots, respectively.
Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of PAU, expressed immense joy over the university’s stellar performance as the top agricultural university for the second consecutive year.
He emphasized that this achievement reinforces PAU’s commitment to becoming a global leader in agricultural research and education.
Dr. Gosal congratulated the PAU community, crediting the success to the faculty's dedication, students' hard work, staff's invaluable contributions, and alumni's unwavering support.
He expressed eagerness to serve both the farming community and the nation, assuring that PAU will continue striving to establish itself as a domestically significant and internationally acclaimed institution.
Dr. Manav Indra Singh Gill, Dean Post Graduate Studies, who accepted the certificate and trophy on behalf of the university, affirmed that this recognition underscores PAU's dedication to delivering top-tier education, pioneering research, and impactful outreach programmes. He emphasized that this achievement strengthens their resolve to uphold the highest standards of excellence in all pursuits, while continuing to make meaningful contributions to the advancement of agriculture and the nation’s progress.
The NIRF ranks India’s higher education institutions using diverse parameters, including teaching, learning, resources, research, graduation outcomes, outreach, inclusivity, and perception.These are further divided into 16 to 18 sub-parameters across different categories.
This year, over 10,000 applications were in the race for ranking consideration, reflecting the competitive landscape of higher education. These comprehensive evaluations ensure that only the most exemplary institutions, like PAU, achieve top honours.
