Chandigarh, September 9, 2024: Youth Akali Dal President Sarbjeet Singh Jhinjher today slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party government for its constant efforts to meddle in Sikh Affairs.
In a video released here, the YAD President raised the incident of BJP President JP Nadda's visit to Takhat Shri Patna Sahib, where, to please the BJP leader, the management committee forgot the maryada of the sacred place, as the Ragi Singhs, who were doing Kirtan, had to face pushes from over-eager journalists.
Jhinjher said, "This is what happens when the management is purposely weakened by the powers that be, and the committee is over-eager to please its political bosses instead of following the Maryada of Gurdwara Sahib. Why hasn't the Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee come out and given any clarification on this incident? The BJP is repeatedly trying to weaken the Sikh community by meddling in our affairs and taking over our gurdwaras."
He further said, "A similar incident happened at Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib, Nanded, a few days ago, when the Gurdwara committee over-enthusiastically honored Ravneet Singh Bittu, effectively giving a clean chit to him and his grandfather Beant Singh, who martyred thousands of our Sikh youngsters in the 1990s."
He further highlighted, "These are not isolated incidents; in the last few weeks only, we have had the wife of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara committee openly and brazenly working to induct new members into the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has a clear record of being anti-Sikh. The Haryana Sikh Prabhandak Committee gave room to the Haryana Police, who have been committing atrocities on our farmers and were later found to be smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol in Gurdwara Sarais."
Jhinjher further said, "These repeated incidents have pained the Sikh community dearly, and it's shocking to see these so-called Sikh intellectuals have completely gone silent on this. But the Shiromani Akali Dal won't stay silent and will keep on fighting the BJP Government's attempt to interfere in our affairs." EOM
