New Delhi, September 9, 2024: the Meta-owned platform is now gearing up for a major upgrade. Users of the messaging app will soon be able to phone or talk with people who are using other apps.
The third-party interoperability will be available for WhatsApp users as it looks to comply with rules in select regions.
Meta said that new notifications have been created in WhatsApp and Messenger to notify users about third party chats. This will notify the user about messages coming from new messaging apps. The users will be able to decide from which third party app they want to receive messages. According to Meta, users will be able to see all the messages in a single inbox.
The users can also create a separate folder for third party chats. For chatting with third party apps, users will also get 'Rich Messaging Feature' like typing indicator, read receipt, direct reply and reaction. As far as the third party calling feature is concerned, the company said that it will be made available in the year 2027. Meta has decided to make a big change in WhatsApp and Messenger under the Digital Market Act of the European Union.
WhatsApp is soon going to offer a call link feature in group chat. Information about this upcoming feature of WhatsApp has been given by WABetaInfo. According to the report, with the help of this feature, users will be able to create call links in the group chat itself. The special thing about this feature is that calls made with it will start without ringing the users.
