"PM has come to campaign as position of BJP is concerning": Former Union Minister Birender Singh on Haryana polls
Uchana (Haryana), September 15, 2024 (ANI): Former Union Minister and Congress leader Birender Singh said on Sunday that the position of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Haryana polls is concerning, and that is why the party has brought Prime Minister Modi to campaign here.
Singh said, "The position of the BJP is concerning. This is why the Prime Minister has also come to campaign. The Prime Minister holds a significant position, and his involvement is not usually required in state elections, but due to the current situation of the BJP, they are trying to bring the Prime Minister to Haryana. However, the outcome will depend on the people's decision, which seems to have already been made."
"As of now, more than 70 percent of people are against the BJP. The BJP government will surely lose, but in this election, the BJP will become completely marginalized. Even after 10 years of rule, they have been unable to expand their party," he added.
Further, speaking on the Aam Aadmi Party, the Congress leader said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's presence is unlikely to make a big impact in the Assembly polls.
"The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) doesn't have much influence in Haryana, so Kejriwal's presence is unlikely to make a big impact," he said.
Earlier today, Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan exuded confidence that the party will get more than 70 seats in the upcoming assembly polls.
Udai Bhan said, "The Congress party is getting huge public support wherever we go there is a huge crowd. In 2005, the Congress party got 67 seats and now we are getting more support than that, we hope that Congress will win more than 70 seats and form the government."
In his rally at Kurukshetra in poll-bound Haryana, PM Modi referred to the incident in Karnataka where police briefly kept the Ganesha idol in the van meant for protestors during a protest.
"Appeasement is the biggest aim of the Congress. Today the condition is such that in Congress rule in Karnataka, Ganpatiji is being kept behind bars. The whole country is celebrating Ganeshotsav and Congress is putting hurdles," he said.
Attacking the Congress, PM Modi said its "royal family" wants to do away with the reservation for Dalits and other weaker sections.Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 and votes will be counted on October 8. (ANI)
