PAU hosts field day on Kinnow cultivation and Agro-Chemical distribution at MS Randhawa Fruit Research Station

Ludhiana, September 17, 2024, The Department of Fruit Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized a successful field day on "Kinnow Cultivation & Distribution of Agro-Chemicals" at the MS Randhawa Fruit Research Station, Gangian, Hoshiarpur.
The event, held under the SCSP component of ICAR-AICRP on Fruits, aimed to equip fruit growers with the latest scientific techniques in kinnow cultivation and managing fruit drop in citrus.A total of 18 fruit growers participated in the training, benefiting from a series of technical lectures by experts in the field.
Dr Sandeep Singh addressed the pressing issue of fruit fly infestation, advising growers on integrated pest management practices recommended by PAU to protect their citrus crops.
Dr. Anita Arora, Principal Plant Pathologist (Fruits), provided detailed insights into managing pathological fruit drop in citrus and shared a year-round spray schedule for growers to follow.
Dr. Sumanjit Kaur, Fruit Scientist at FRS Gangian, discussed best practices in citrus cultivation and expressed her gratitude to the experts and participants for their active engagement.
The field day also featured the distribution of PAU-developed fruit fly traps, literature, and small implements to the growers, ensuring they are well-equipped to implement the practices shared during the training. Participants were encouraged to stay in contact with PAU experts for ongoing guidance and support.
