Two arrested for trying to extort money from businessman in Bathinda
Bathinda (Punjab) [India], September 19 (ANI): Punjab Police have arrested two persons for allegedly issuing threats and trying to extort money from a businessman in Bathinda, officials said on Thursday.
According to the police, the businessman received a threat call from the accused, who claimed to be members of the Bambiha gang.
"On October 16, a businessman received an extortion call from someone claiming to be from the Bambiha gang. A case was registered for extortion and intimidation based on the complaint. A team was formed, and through technical surveillance and human intelligence, two persons have been arrested," said Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amneet Kondal.
The arrested accused have been identified as Parminder, a resident of Muktsar, and Sushil from Sirsa district.
The Bathinda SSP also said that the police recovered a .32 bore pistol, four cartridges, a bike, and a mobile phone from their possession.
She added that both accused were habitual offenders with several cases registered against them.
