Municipal Council Ferozepur organizes sanitation rally to promote cleanliness
Ferozepur, 19 September 2024: In line with the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign, a sanitation rally was organized by the Municipal Council of Ferozepur, in collaboration with students from various schools. The rally aimed to raise awareness among city residents about maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment, following the directives of the Punjab Government and PMIDC Chandigarh. The event was led by Poonam Bhatnagar, Municipal Council Ferozepur, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bamba.
The rally began at the municipal park and proceeded through Mall Road, concluding with a visit to the Solid Waste Management Plant. Here, students were educated on waste collection, segregation, and composting, emphasizing the importance of separating household waste and ensuring it is handed over to designated collectors.
Sanitary Inspector Sukhpal Singh and Program Coordinator Simranjit highlighted that the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign will run from September 17 to October 2, 2024. The campaign will see participation from local NGOs, NCC volunteers, social organizations, and political and religious leaders, who will be honored in a national-level program on October 2, 2024.
Municipal Council staff members, including motivators Amandeep Kaur, Anchal Soi, Shelley Chawla, Sandeep Kaur, Karan Khanna, and Amar Singh, were also present at the event, supporting the cause of cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
