NCC Inter-Platoon Competition ‘Sangram 2024’ Commences
Jalandhar, September 20, 2024: The NCC Inter-Platoon Competition 'Sangram 2024' was inaugurated under the aegis of Lovely Professional University (LPU) by Brigadier Ajay Tiwari, Sena Medal, Group Commander of NCC Jalandhar Group. The event, featuring 10 platoons, will include various activities such as drills, sports, cultural competitions, debates, and extempore speeches over four days.
Brigadier Tiwari received the Guard of Honour, accompanied by Colonel (Dr.) Rashmi Mittal, Vice Chancellor of LPU, and Colonel Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer of 2 Punjab NCC Battalion. After the NCC and LPU flag hoisting ceremony, the NCC and LPU anthems were sung by all the cadets. Brigadier Tiwari and Colonel (Dr.) Mittal unveiled the Sangram competition trophies.
In his speech, Brigadier Tiwari highlighted the importance of the Sangram competition in enhancing the skills and personalities of the cadets. He encouraged more institutions to organize similar NCC events and urged cadets to aim for commissioning in the National NCC and armed forces.
Vice Chancellor Colonel (Dr.) Rashmi Mittal expressed her pride in being associated with the NCC and contributing to training and education. She noted that this is the second year of the Sangram competition and that similar initiatives have been introduced in other departments as well.
Dr. Saurabh Lakhanpal, Senior Dean of the Student Welfare Department, mentioned that multifaceted programs are underway to secure a bright future for the cadets. He urged them to work with determination and integrity for the nation's development. The event was also attended by Dr. Nitin, Deputy Dean, Captain (Dr.) Kamal Singh, Lieutenant Sharad Shekhawat, and other army instructors and faculty members.
