Ferozepur Railway Division conducts water quality checks on ‘Swachh Neer Diwas’
Ferozepur, 11.10.2024: In line with Mahatma Gandhi's vision of cleanliness, Indian Railways is observing a “Swachhata Pakhwada” (Cleanliness Fortnight) from October 1 to October 15. As part of this initiative, the Ferozepur Division celebrated “Swachh Neer Diwas” on October 11 to ensure the quality of drinking water provided at various railway stations.
On Swachh Neer Diwas, water quality checks were conducted across multiple stations within the Ferozepur Division. This included testing the water from filter plants, recycling plants, and water booths on platforms. The quality of water supplied to passengers and available at taps in railway colonies and hospitals was also inspected. Additionally, the manufacturing and expiry dates of bottled water sold at station stalls were verified.
As part of this campaign, health inspectors collected water samples from stations like Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot Junction, Pathankot Cantt., Jalandhar City, Jalandhar Cantt., Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Ferozepur Cantt. The samples have been sent to laboratories to ensure compliance with drinking water standards and to guarantee safe water for railway passengers and staff.
