Political leaders condemn Pakistan for calling Shaheed Bhagat Singh a 'terrorist'

Chandigarh, November 11, 2024: A day after Pakistan scrapped the proposal to rename Shadman Chowk in Lahore after Shaheed Bhagat Singh, it has garnered widespread condemnation across borders.The plan was called off after the freedom fighter was labelled a 'terrorist' in a report by a retired Pakistan military official.

In response to the action, AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang, in a press conference, said that the decision of the Punjab government of Pakistan is highly condemnable. We will not tolerate the insult to Bhagat Singh. The Indian government should intervene in this matter and demand an explanation from Pakistan.
He further stated that AAP will oppose any insult to Bhagat Singh anywhere in the world. We follow the ideologies of Bhagat Singh and Dr. Ambedkar, and their thoughts are our fundamental principles. AAP Punjab Secretary and Markfed Chairman Amandeep Singh Mohi was also present at the press conference.
Kang said that Bhagat Singh is a hero of the freedom struggle. At just 23 years of age, his unparalleled sacrifice is why we call him Shaheed-e-Azam.Similarly, former President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Professor Kirpal Singh Badungar also condemned Pakistan government
"If today Pakistan has a free existence, it is only because of such brave warriors like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru, Shaheed Sukhdev Singh, Shaheed Udham Singh, Kartar Singh Sarabha who have sacrificed their lives. Freed the country from the British rule by sacrificing their lives.
Prof. Badungar said that the government of Pakistan should not take such unfortunate decisions. He said that Shadman Chowk of Lahore, Pakistan should be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Along with this Prof. Badungar said that the government of the Australian state of Victoria has recognized the contribution of the Sikh community in Australia and the 555th birth anniversary of the first Guru Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the "Berwick Springs Lake" full of natural colors in the area located in the south east of Melbourne. Sikhs living in the world are following the message that Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji gave to the world by congratulating him on officially changing the name and keeping it as Guru Nanak Lake.
Professor Badungar said that the Australian government has changed the name of this lake to Guru Nanak lake due to the rich contribution made by the Sikh community living in Australia to the Springs Lake of Australia and has elevated the name of Sikhism.
