Chandigarh, November 11, 2024: As Babushahi Network turns 13, Editor Baljit Balli takes a moment to share the remarkable journey of building a trusted digital media platform in Punjab.
Founded on November 11, 2011, Babushahi Network has become a trailblazer in the digital news landscape, delivering reliable news to readers across Punjab, India, and beyond.
In his message, Editor Baljit Balli reflects on the exciting challenges and rewarding experiences of steering Babushahi through the early days of digital media. Today, with your support, Babushahi Network stands proudly as a household name, a trusted source of news, and a pillar in the Punjabi digital media world.
Here’s to many more years of bringing you the news with dedication, passion, and a commitment to authentic journalism!
Reflecting on the Journey Editor Baljit Balli shares,
*"Main Rahan Te Nahi Turdaa, Main Turdaan Haan Taan Raah Bande"* ("I do not follow the path; I make the path by moving").
In 2011, after 31 years in print and electronic media, my colleagues and I embarked on the bold journey of launching Babushahi.com in a largely uncharted digital media landscape. Back then, with only 2G internet and limited smartphone access, the concept of a digital news website was still unfamiliar. The challenges were many, but our determination was stronger.
At just 13 years old, Babushahi is still young, yet my family, our team, and I are proud that despite limited resources and various hurdles, we’ve successfully built "Brand Babushahi" as a trusted name in Punjab, across India, and globally.
With a small but dedicated team, Babushahi Network has carved out a unique identity as a professional digital news platform in an era dominated by technology. We're especially proud that our readers trust us for authentic news. Recently, we have also ventured into visual media, adapting to the changing landscape.
Adapting to an Evolving Media Landscape
Over these 13 years, the media landscape has transformed. Digital and online media, alongside print and TV, are more competitive and face new challenges in credibility, often shaped by profit motives. Amid this, Babushahi stands firm in its commitment to authenticity and responsible journalism, avoiding sensationalism and societal divisions.
We don’t claim perfection. Every media outlet faces challenges and limitations, sometimes requiring a practical approach or compromise. Yet we strive to stay grounded, connected to our community, and rooted in responsible journalism. We aim to promote Punjabi culture and language, making Babushahi a bridge between tradition and modern technology.
Looking Ahead
How well we’ve succeeded is for you, our readers, to judge. We pledge to continue on this path and uphold your trust. Moving forward, we plan to expand Babushahi’s offerings with new ventures.
Reflecting on lines from poet Surjit Patar, *"Kadi Dariya Kalla Tahi Nahin Karda Disha Apni..."* ("The river does not set its course alone; it follows the shape of the land and flows with the current"), I feel immense gratitude. Our journey here has been a collective effort, and I’m deeply thankful to our editorial team, field team, business team, and Canadian tech support who have worked tirelessly for this cause. My heartfelt thanks also go to our supporters from all walks of life who helped us reach this milestone.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to the years ahead!
