Teachers demand school time change due to heavy fog in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, November 14, 2024: The Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) and the 6635 Teachers Union have submitted a memorandum to the District Education Officers (Primary and Secondary), urging the administration to shift school start times from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. due to heavy fog.
The fog has created dangerous commuting conditions, especially for teachers traveling from Fazilka and Abohar. District President of the Teachers Front, Malkit Singh Haraj, and union leader Shalinder Komboj emphasized that the fog has led to severe accidents in past years, even claiming teachers’ lives. Added here, Ferozepur-Fazilka Road is a single-lane, high-traffic route, delays and visibility challenges make the commute particularly risky.
They appealed to the administration to adjust school timings proactively, citing that such changes are often only implemented after a major accident. Other union members, including Amit Kumar, Sarabjit Singh Bhavra, and Inder Singh, were also present.
