Moga, December 2, 2024: As part of the Punjab government's initiative to combat societal misconduct, Moga Police have achieved a milestone by recovering 60 lost mobile phones. These devices reported missing between October 1, 2024, and December 2024, were traced from various districts within Punjab and other states. The recovered phones were handed over to their rightful owners by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Gandhi, in a special event today.
SSP Gandhi emphasised the importance of community cooperation in curbing the misuse of stolen or lost mobile phones. He urged residents to exercise caution when purchasing mobile phones. "Always verify the seller's credentials and avoid buying phones from suspicious or undocumented sources," he said. He also appealed to the public to deposit any abandoned phones found with the nearest police station or original owner to prevent potential misuse.
To safeguard personal data, SSP Gandhi advised citizens to enable security locks on their devices and refrain from sharing one-time passwords (OTPs) with unknown individuals. He also encouraged awareness about the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal, a platform instrumental in recovering lost devices. "Sharing information about this portal will make it easier for others to retrieve their lost phones," he added.
This initiative by Moga Police underscores their commitment to providing transparent and impartial services while maintaining public safety.
