Indian Army's Panther Division, Vajra Corps and Adm Gurdaspur jointly launch 'Clean and Green' campaign in villages adjoining Tibri Military Station

Gurdaspur, December 11, 2024: The 'Clean and Green' campaign has been jointly launched today by the Panther Division, Vajra Corps of the Indian Army and the District Administration Gurdaspur, especially in villages adjoining Tibri Military Station.
Brigadier Vikramjit Singh Kochhar of the Indian Army and Deputy Commissioner Uma Shankar Gupta launched this 'Clean and Green' campaign from Government Senior Secondary School Purana Shala today.
Under the Clean and Green campaign, today's cleanliness drive, garbage management and kitchen garden improvement were carried out in the Government Senior Secondary school.
On this occasion, under the leadership of Senior Military Officer and Deputy Commissioner Uma Shankar Gupta, the army and civil officials gave a message to make the environment green by planting trees in the school.
On this occasion, the Forest Department, Health Department, Panchayat Department, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department set up stalls in the school and motivated people to make their surroundings clean and green.
On this occasion, a special seminar was organized under the Clean and Green campaign at Government Senior Secondary School, Purana Shala, in which lecturers Harpreet Singh and Gursharan Singh explained in detail about waste management.
The experts motivated the people that together they can make their surroundings clean.
On this occasion, Indian Army official informed that the villages within a 5-kilometer radius of Tibri Military Station will be covered under the 'Clean and Green' campaign. He said that this campaign have started today from Government Senior Secondary School, Purana Shala, which will continue for the next 90 days.
He informed that special awareness programs will be organized in the villages with the support of the district administration under the 'Clean and Green' campaign.He said that in this campaign, apart from school students, the residents of the villages will be involved and motivated to make their surroundings clean and green.
Along with this, farmers will also be made aware about not burning crop residues. He said that during this campaign, tree plantation will also be encouraged so that our environment can be green.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Uma Shankar Gupta said that while the Indian Army keeps our country safe from enemies with its bravery, the army personnel are also contributing to the conservation of their environment through the Clean and Green campaign.He said that the district administration is grateful to the officers and soldiers of the Indian Army for this initiative.
He said that the district administration will fully cooperate with the Indian Army in this noble work so that this campaign can be completely successful.Appealing to the school students and residents of the area, the Deputy Commissioner said that waste management remains a big challenge at this time.
He said that if people start collecting dry and wet waste separately in their homes, then scientific disposal of waste can be done easily.
He said that people can prepare fertilizer from wet waste at their homes, while income can be earned from it by selling dry waste in the scrap yard.
On this occasion, he appealed to the residents of the villages adjacent to Tibri Cantonment to extend their full support to this joint 'Clean and Green' campaign of the Indian Army and the District Administration so that we can all contribute to making our surroundings clean and green and also to eliminating social evils like drugs.
Earlier, a painting and poster making competition was organized for the students in Purana Shala School regarding the Clean and Green Campaign, and prizes were distributed to the winners.
On this occasion, the beautiful performance of the Giddha by the little girls won the hearts of everyone. The band team of the Indian Army personnel made the atmosphere musical by playing melodious tunes.
On this occasion, besides the officers of the Indian Army, SDM Gurdaspur Dr. Karamjit Singh, DDPO Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur Kalsi from the Health Department, School Principal Baljinder Kaur, Sarpanch Purana Shala Baljit Singh, Parminder Singh, besides other officials and dignitaries of the area were also present.
