DC celebrates Lohri with special needs children at Savera Special Resource Centre
Two visually impaired students shine in cultural performance
Ferozepur, January 13, 2025: The Lohri with special needs children at the Savera Special Resource Centre in Ferozepur was celebrated by Deputy Commissioner, Deepshikha Sharma. She emphasized that every child with special needs possesses unique talents that require nurturing and support. She further highlighted the need for greater love and acceptance for these children in society. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Divya P.V. was also present.
On this occasion, DC Sharma distributed boots, sweaters, and socks to the children. The DC assured that the government schemes benefiting special needs children will be implemented on a priority basis. She pledged support from the district administration, in collaboration with the Red Cross and social welfare organizations, to aid the children's education and self-employment opportunities.
DC also inaugurated a machine for making disposable bowls, which will provide vocational training to the children. She lauded the efforts of the teachers in empowering the children with skill training to make them self-reliant.
The children showcased their talents through poetry recitals, Bhangra performances, and other cultural activities, especially the performance by two visually-impaired children. The DC joined in the Lohri celebrations and extended festive greetings to the children.
Prominent attendees included District Education Officers Munila Arora and Sunita Rani, Red Cross Secretary Ashok Bahl, Deputy District Education Officers Dr. Satinder Singh and Komal Arora, Shaily Kamboj, and representatives from various social welfare organizations.
