Chandigarh, January 18, 2025: Family members of freedom fighters have sought facilities from Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on the lines of neighboring states. They have demanded the state government to provide 2% open reservation to family members of freedom fighters in government jobs in Haryana on the lines of neighboring states.
Family members urged to implement the "Kutumb Samman Pension" scheme on the lines of the Uttarakhand government so that families of freedom fighters can get economic and social support.
Demand to create history of Azad Hind Fauj soldiers
Master Surendra Jaglan, Surendra Doodi, Satish Kumar, Deepak Goyat, Omprakash Dhanda, Ravi, Satish Yadav, and other family members said that the history of Azad Hind Fauj (INA) soldiers is pending in the files of Haryana Archives Department for decades.
In 1966, the Haryana government sought data related to INA soldiers, but it has not been completed yet. Due to this ignorance of history, many freedom fighters died before seeing their identity documents.
Patriotic feelings should be instilled in children
The family members also appealed to the Chief Minister to include the history of Azad Hind Fauj soldiers in the school curriculum. This will promote patriotism and a sense of duty towards the nation in children.
The freedom fighter families also said that the government should seriously consider their demands pending for years and find a solution soon.
Demand for formation of Freedom Fighter Welfare Board in Haryana, family members demand from Chief Minister
Freedom fighters and their families in Haryana have demanded the formation of a Freedom Fighter Welfare Board on the lines of Punjab from the state government. They raised this issue before Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and urged to establishment a government body dedicated to the welfare of the families of freedom fighters.
The family members said that the Punjab government has recently taken an exemplary step by forming the Freedom Fighter Welfare Board so that the fighters and their families can get representation at the government level and their issues can be resolved. They also demanded the Haryana government to form a similar board.
Welfare Board will give a strong voice
The family members say that the Freedom Fighter Welfare Board will provide a platform to strongly raise their issues and resolve them. Through this, problems related to pensions, health facilities, education, and other benefits will be resolved at a fast pace.
Example of Punjab Government
It is worth noting that Punjab's Freedom Fighter and Defense Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat had recently announced the formation of a welfare board for freedom fighters and their families.
The Punjab government is not only forming the board, but is also running a program to increase the pension of the fighters and their dependents, build memorials in their honor, and meet the fighters by public representatives.
Such efforts should be made in Haryana too
The families of Haryana have demanded that the state government should also make such efforts to honor the freedom fighters and their sacrifices. They also demanded an increase in pension, the construction of memorials, and the inclusion of the history of the fighters in the school curriculum.
