CBSE issues guidelines for 10th and 12th board exams; Read details

Chandigarh, January 24, 2025: the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued important guidelines regarding the 10th and 12th board examinations starting from February 15, 2025. CBSE has asked all schools to inform students about the examination rules and regulations before the examination.
The official notification issued by CBSE has said that it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions issued by CBSE to conduct such a big examination.
The board has said in the notice that it is necessary to conduct fair examinations in the academic interest of the students. In such a situation, detailed rules have been prepared by CBSE.
It is important that before the examination begins, all the students appearing for the board examinations are informed about the examination rules and instructions issued by CBSE.
CBSE said that the following are expected from schools-
- Please read the Unfair Means Guidelines (UFM Guidelines) and the penalties that can be imposed.
- Inform the students about the examination process and rules and punishment for wrongdoing. Also tell them that they should not believe in rumours. No one should be involved in spreading rumours.
- Also inform the parents of the students about the examination rules and punishments.
- On the day of the examination, also remind the students not to carry any prohibited items to the examination centre.
- The officers posted on examination duty should also be informed.
CBSE has also implemented a CCTV policy under which all examination rooms/halls will be equipped with CCTV.
These are being monitored by the Assistant Superintendent (CCTV Surveillance) at each examination centre. After entering the examination centre, possession, use or attempt to use any electronic device (including mobile phones) which can be used as a communication device will be considered as misconduct and against the rules.
CBSE has also mentioned the dress code in the notice.
- For regular students - school uniform
- For private students - light clothes
These items are allowed to be carried in the exam.
a) Admit card and school identity card (for regular students)
b) Admit card and any government photo identity card (for private students)
c) Stationery items like transparent pouch, geometry/pencil box, blue/royal blue ink/ball point/gel pen, scale, writing pad, eraser, d) Analog watch, transparent water bottle
e) Metro card, bus pass, money.
What items are prohibited in the exam?
a) Any stationery items - such as text materials (printed or written), pieces of paper, calculators (except for students with learning disabilities), pen drives, log tables (to be provided by the centers), electronic pens/scanners, etc. .
b) Any communication devices - such as mobile phones, Bluetooth, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands, smart watches, cameras, etc.
c) Other items such as wallets, eyeglasses, handbags, pouches, etc.
The use of the above items will be considered under the category of inappropriate means and will be punished as per the rules.
