Ferozepur, February 6, 2025: The Indian government should focus on creating ample opportunities for youth to discourage them from seeking employment abroad, said S.P. Khera, Patron of the Senior Citizens Forum (SCF).
He emphasized that job opportunities could be bolstered by boosting industries, promoting startups, and investing in skill development programs. Strengthening sectors like IT, manufacturing, and renewable energy will create jobs, while favorable policies for entrepreneurship can encourage self-employment. Enhancing infrastructure, reducing bureaucratic hurdles, and ensuring fair wages will make India an attractive destination for work.
Expressing concern over the underutilization of research in India, Khera added that fostering research, innovation, and international collaborations will help retain talent. A robust employment ecosystem will not only curb brain drain but also contribute to India’s economic growth and self-reliance.
The recent deportation of hundreds of Indian youths from the US on a special plane has further highlighted the urgency of creating domestic opportunities to retain talent.
