Chandigarh, March 26, 2025 – The Punjab Vidhan Sabha witnessed a heated exchange today, leading to a walkout by Congress legislators.
The uproar began when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Inderjit Kaur Mann demanded an apology from Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa for referring to environmentalist and Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal as a "businessman."
Bajwa refused to apologize, asserting that he stood by his remarks. His refusal prompted a strong backlash from AAP members, including Education Minister Harjot Bains, who condemned Bajwa's statements.
The tension further escalated when Bajwa presented a resolution during the Zero Hour seeking special honors for Shaheed Bhagat Singh. However, Speaker Kultar Sandhwan denied him the opportunity to speak, citing procedural rules. The Speaker explained that Bajwa had not given the mandatory 15-day notice required to introduce a resolution.
In protest against the Speaker's decision, all Congress MLAs staged a walkout from the Assembly, intensifying the political drama within the House.
