Chandigarh, May 5, 2025: In a sharp attack on the Central Government during a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused the Centre of systematically sidelining Punjab’s interests.
Referring to the ongoing disputes over water sharing, federal appointments, and resource allocation, Mann declared, “Inka bas chale, toh Jana Gana Mana ton Punjab da naa hi kadh den!” (If they had their way, they’d remove even Punjab’s name from the national anthem).
The Chief Minister's fiery remarks came amid growing tensions over the Bhakra Beas Management Board’s decision to release additional water to Haryana.Mann alleged that the Centre has repeatedly shown a step-motherly attitude toward Punjab, ignoring the state’s legitimate concerns and bypassing its rights.
