Police bust drug racket, seize heroin, launch probe into cross-border network
Ferozepur, May 15, 2025: Despite ongoing tensions and a declared ceasefire between India and Pakistan, cross-border smuggling remains a persistent threat, as evidenced by continued drug recoveries and drone activity.
In two separate incidents, Ferozepur district police seized a total of 1.887 kilograms of heroin and arrested one individual. The suspect is currently being interrogated to expose the wider smuggling nexus and has since been produced in court for further legal proceedings.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu stated that the first bust was made by the CIA staff team led by Inspector Mohit Dhawan. While patrolling near Madhre village, the team apprehended Sukhdev Singh alias Babbi, a resident of Habib Wala village, and recovered 1.446 kilograms of heroin from his possession.
