Together for a Drug-Free Tomorrow: MLA Bhullar leads ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ across Ferozepur villages
Ferozepur, May 18, 2025: Ferozepur Urban MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar organised a series of anti-drug awareness events across villages under his constituency, including Bhakra, Gatti Rajo Ke, and Nawi Gatti Rajo Ke, as part of the Punjab Government's ongoing "War Against Drugs" campaign led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Addressing the gatherings, MLA Bhullar emphasised that the main objective of the "Nasha Mukti Yatra" (Drug-Free March) is to eradicate drug abuse from the state and to help youth caught in addiction reclaim a healthy and empowered future. He reiterated the government’s commitment to combating drug abuse with utmost seriousness and stressed the importance of grassroots awareness.
To strengthen community involvement, village-level defence committees have been made a part of the campaign. Bhullar urged villagers, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and take an active role in making their society drug-free.
He further stated that strict legal action is being taken against those involved in drug trafficking and supply. “The government aims to make every village and every street drug-free,” he said, adding that the awareness march will soon be extended to other villages in the area.
During the events, local Sarpanchs and residents pledged to prevent the sale of drugs in their areas and to spread awareness. Citizens were also encouraged to report drug-related activities to the government’s dedicated helpline at 9779-100-200.
Members of the village defence committees shared information about rehabilitation services and counselling available for drug-affected individuals and highlighted the harmful effects of substance abuse.
Prominent attendees included Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Constituency Coordinator, Surjit Singh, Block President, Surinder Singh, Sarpanch, Nek Pratap Singh, and Himanshu Thakkar.
