Punjab declares holiday on May 30 to observe Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjan Dev

Chandigarh, May 19, 2025: The Punjab government has announced a statewide public holiday on May 30, 2025 (Friday) to observe the Martyrdom Day of Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
The official notification confirms that all government offices, schools, and colleges will remain closed on this day.This announcement provides much-needed respite, especially with the holiday falling on a Friday, effectively creating a long weekend for many.
Second Gazetted Holiday in May
As per the official Punjab government holiday calendar:
- First gazetted holiday: May 1 (Thursday) — Labor Day
- Second gazetted holiday: May 30 (Friday) — Martyrdom Day of Guru Arjan Dev Ji
Citizens are advised to plan their schedules accordingly and pay tribute to the legacy of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, who sacrificed his life for faith, truth, and justice.
