Chandigarh, May 19, 2025 –As part of efforts to revive the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), members of the five-member recruitment committee formed under the guidance of Sri Akal Takht Sahib addressed a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club today.
Committee members Manpreet Singh Ayali, Jathedar Gurpratap Singh Wadala, Jathedar Iqbal Singh Jhoonda, Jathedar Santa Singh Umaidpuri, and Bibi Satwant Kaur jointly announced the launch of an online portal to facilitate membership for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).
Speaking on the occasion, Manpreet Singh Ayali said the membership drive is progressing successfully across Punjab, and the committee is now extending the initiative to Punjabis residing abroad.
“NRIs will now be able to become members of the party through this newly launched online platform,” he said. “Akal Takht Sahib has given us six months to complete the recruitment process, and we aim to finish it by June 15. The drive will also be expanded to other states across India.”
He further stated that nearly 2.6 million membership forms have been submitted so far. Portal - https://akalidalbharti.com
“We are carrying out this recruitment as per the directives of Akal Takht Sahib. There is only one Shiromani Akali Dal and we are committed to uniting the Panth under this single identity,” Ayali emphasized.
Addressing the media, Jathedar Iqbal Singh Jhoonda expressed disappointment over the previous neglect of Akal Takht’s directives by the party leadership.
“The Panth has been deceived, and people are well aware of it. Our aim is to provide the community with leadership that has the approval of the Panth,” he said.
