SGPC postpones decision on displaying Dr. Manmohan Singh's portrait in Central Sikh Museum

Amritsar (Punjab), May 23, 2025 — The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to postpone the decision regarding the display of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s portrait in the Central Sikh Museum.
SGPC Secretary S. Pratap Singh informed that the SGPC’s internal committee had earlier approved the inclusion of Dr. Singh’s portrait in the museum.However, following objections from various quarters, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has ordered the matter to be deferred for further review.
He emphasized that the SGPC respects the sentiments of the Sikh community and believes it is essential to build a consensus within the community on this issue
Secretary Pratap Singh added that the internal committee will revisit the decision on the portrait after considering the views of the Sikh community.
