Chandigarh, June 18, 2025: In a major voter-friendly move, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pankaj Agarwal announced that voter ID cards with photographs will now be delivered directly to citizens' homes within 15 days via the postal department.
This comes under a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Election Commission of India, aimed at streamlining the process for new registrations, corrections, and updates in voter records.
Under the new system, voters will receive real-time SMS updates at every stage, ensuring better service transparency, time tracking, and data security.
“This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing ease and efficiency in voter services,” said CEO Agarwal.
The move follows a series of reforms introduced over the last four months by Chief Election Commissioner Sh. Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi to empower voters and modernize election infrastructure nationwide.
