Pak-backed smuggling racket busted, 2 held with 5 kg heroin, Rs.29 lakh drug money
Ferozepur, October 8, 2025: The Ferozepur police achieved a significant success after a week-long operation, under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister and DGP Punjab Police to wipe out drugs from the state,
CIA Incharge Inspector Mohit Dhawan and his team, acting on specific intelligence, arrested two drug peddlers—Sajan (25), son of Ramesh, resident of Basti Awa under City Ferozepur police station, and Resham (23) alias Vishal, son of Yunus, resident of Naurange Leliwala under Sadar Ferozepur police station.
From their possession, the police recovered 5.015 kg of heroin, Rs. 29,16,700 in drug money (suspected hawala transactions), two mobile phones, and a motorcycle.
SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that the operation was carried out after continuous surveillance and intelligence inputs for over a week. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused have strong links with a major Pakistan-based smuggler, Sah Pathan, who has been pushing consignments across the border to disrupt the region’s peace.
He further informed that Sajan already faces five NDPS cases and had been absconding in one of them. “This arrest not only exposed their Pakistan-backed supply chain but also broke a critical link of cross-border drug trafficking. More arrests and recoveries are expected in the coming days as further associates are being tracked,” the SSP said.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at City Ferozepur Police Station, and interrogation is ongoing to unearth the wider network.
