Punjab ministers invite Goa CM to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom anniversary commemorations

Punjab Cabinet Ministers Sanjeev Arora and Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Thursday met Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in Goa to extend a formal invitation to the state-led commemorations marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. The ministers outlined the programme’s national character and sought Sawant’s presence to underscore shared values of faith and freedom.
During the meeting, the ministers paid tribute to the Ninth Sikh Guru, widely revered as “Hind Di Chadar,” noting his supreme sacrifice to defend religious freedom and human rights. They said the commemorations aim to take the Guru’s message of courage, inclusivity, and conscience to a wider audience through diverse public events.
Arora and Khudian handed over a formal invitation detailing a series of large-scale programmes to be organised by the Punjab government at historically significant locations. They said the events will focus on celebrating the Guru’s life, teachings, and unparalleled sacrifice through devotional gatherings, interfaith outreach, and heritage-led public engagement.
Emphasizing the spirit of the observance, the ministers said the programmes are intended to remember Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s example as a beacon of freedom, tolerance, and justice for all humanity. They added that broad participation from across states will strengthen national unity around the Guru’s universal ideals.
